Frequently Asked Questions about Student Housing

Q: What kinds of amenities are offered?
A: Students live in two-bedroom, one bathroom apartments that have around 1,000 square feet.

Apartment features include:
• Security, building entry door
• Apartment Entry Door with deadbolt locks and privacy viewer
• Smoke Alarm
• Kitchen includes refrigerator, range, dishwasher/disposal
and pantry
• Hardwood Floors
• Shelf, linen and storage space
• Mini/vertical blinds

Q: Does Crichton own the apartments?
A: At Crichton, we lease two-bedroom, one bathroom apartments in a safe environment. Currently, our students live in the Georgian Woods apartment community that is located on Union Ave 2.5 miles from campus

Q: Is the apartment complex located near the campus?
A: The Georgian Woods apartment community is located 2.5 miles from the Crichton College campus.

Q: If I don't own a car, how do I get back and forth to campus?
A: The Office of Student Services at Crichton shuttles students four times a day.

Q: Can everyone live in student housing?
A: Student housing is available for in-city and out of town students.

Q: Are there Resident Assistants who live in student housing?
A: There are six Resident Assistants (three male and three female) who live in the apartments. They respond to calls from their assigned residents 24 hours a day.

Q: Does the complex have any other features?
A: The Georgian Woods complex does have a laundry center.

Q: Does the Residence Life staff have activities planned for students who live in housing?
A: Special activities and outings are planned monthly for Residence Life students and their guests. Community meetings are also planned regularly.

Q: What is the cost of housing per semester?
A: Housing is available on a first-come-first-served basis, with priority based upon housing deposit date. Students who reside in campus housing are charged fees based upon a one-semester renewable contract, payable in advance of the beginning of the semester. Summer is not included in the regular contract period, but is available with separate fees for those who request to stay. Housing costs an estimated $1,900 per semester. The contract and $150 refundable security (depending on apartment condition at time of check out) is available through the Office of Residence Life.

Q: I'm interested in signing up. Who do I call?
A: To reserve a space, a completed contract accompanied by a $150 deposit should be sent to the Office of Residence Life, or be forwarded through the Admissions Office.
