ACT ONE PARTNERSHIP
The Act One Partnership will serve as an ongoing opportunity to help connect and reconnect the DPA and its students to the community through the creation of special projects.
SOPHOS PROJECT
Sophos: Greek transliteration for skilled in a given handiwork or craft
Goal: To connect local artists with Crichton College DPA students
1. Connects our students with the artistic community by bringing in local artists for class work, master classes, and performances and by taking our students out into the arts community through tours, classes, and performances
2. Establishes a broader education for our students with real-world artistic connections
3. Creates awareness in the artistic community of the projects, concerts, performances, and talents in the DPA
DA CAPO PROJECT
Da Capo: Italian musical term to go back to the beginning
Goal: To reconnect Crichton College DPA students with secondary schools
1. Reconnects our students with the secondary academic community
2. Establishes a broader educational experience for our students through reconnections with choirs and theater classes in local middle school and high schools
3. Creates awareness in the academic community of the projects, concerts, performances, and talents in the DPA, and what we have to offer these upcoming college students in our department
4. DPA students would spend time going to local schools
a. Sit in on classes and sing with choirs or act alongside young actors
b. Mentoring connections to help young students learn more about music and acting
c. Work alongside young students to help them prepare for auditions, festivals, etc.
d. Students from secondary schools would be invited to visit and participate in choir and theater classes through the DPA
CARITAS PROJECT
Caritas: Latin for charity, or for giving freely without anything in return
Goal: To help fulfill Crichton College’s mission for outreach and to bridge the DPA with the community around us
1. Connects our students with many community sources: churches, hospitals, nursing homes, etc.
2. Establishes a broader educational experience for our students through connections with and artistic expressions for organizations in our community
3. Creates awareness in the community of the projects, concerts, performances, and talents in the DPA
4. DPA students would spend time going to local organizations to perform
5. Local groups would be invited to attend special events at Crichton
