All full-time, day students are expected to complete CREW service hours per semester in combination with Chapel hours (The Hour and supplemental events). A student can choose to serve at-risk youth through any of the non-profit organizations listed on the CREW webpage, or can volunteer with a youth organization of his choosing with prior approval from the CREW office--prior approval must occur before any volunteer hours are logged.
All part-time students are expected to complete CREW service hours per semester in accordance to day-time class hours: 0-6 = 5 CREW hours; 7-11 = 10 CREW hours. Part-time students have the same organizational requirements as full-time students.
These requirements are effective as of Fall 2005. Spiritual Life hour requirements are pass/fail on school transcripts. Fails will result in restrictions of registering.
Full-time, day students have
the option of combining their CREW service hours with the
number of times they attend "The Hour" on Wednesdays. The
total number of hours a student needs is 30, as long as
there is a minimum of 5 hours in each of the two programs.
For example, a student might want to serve 17 CREW hours and
thus attend 13 "The Hour" programs. Or one could complete 9
CREW hours and attend 21 "The Hour" programs. Any number
combination is acceptable (with a minimum of 5 hours in each
program.)
