Comets Compete in First Ever Meet

Nashville, TN September 1, 2006  - The inaugural Men's Cross Country season got underway Friday as the Comets competed in the Belmont Opener. The September 1 meet held at Nashville's Percy Warner Park showcased many successful teams, with schools such Belmont, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, and Western Kentucky welcoming the Comets to their first ever season. Feb Boswell posted the fastest time for the Comets finishing the 5K race at 16:54. The time was good enough to finish ahead of runners from, Middle Tennessee State, David Lipscomb Murray State, and Western Kentucky. Kyle Chandler, Corry Shannon, and Jeffery Garrison also ran well in their first ever meet in a Comet uniform. The Belmont Opener should prove to be a good starting point for the Comets who look to build into a contender in the TranSouth Athletic Conference.

Lead Runner: Feb Boswell

Next up the Comets continue their inaugural run at the Skyhawk Invitational hosted by the University of Tennessee at Martin, Saturday September 9th.
