  Comets Take Tough Loss at Union

Jackson, TN – January 28, 2008- The Crichton Comets men's basketball team suffered its forth conference loss of the season at the hands of the Bulldogs of Union University. The Comets came into the game 12-7 overall and 6-3 in TranSouth Conference play. The score went back and forth early in the first half and was tied up 3 different times. With 14:33 minutes left in the first half the Bulldogs went ahead, and the Comets were forced to play catch-up for the rest of the half. The Comets were able to cut the lead to 2 a couple of times in the remaining minutes of the half, but were never able to take control of the game. At the end of the first half the Comets trailed the Bulldogs 46-41.

In the second half, the Bulldogs came out and continued to control the game. Building on the lead they already had, the Bulldogs largest lead came with 9:24 minutes left in the game when they led by 17 points. The Comets continued to battle back but were never able to overcome the Bulldogs. At the final buzzer, the Bulldogs had defeated the Comets by 13 points with a final score of 93-80.

Three Comets reached double figures in scoring, Derek Boykin with 18 points and 4 assists, and Sylvania Watkins and Dontaye Hinton both had 14 points. Leading scorer for Union was Matt Neaville with 32 points
