Nashville, TN – March 6, 2008 - The Crichton Comets men's basketball team traveled to Nashville, TN tonight to take on the Trojans of Trevecca-Nazarene University in the quarter final game of the TranSouth Conference Tournament. The Comets led for the first five miniutes of the game, but then the Trojans took the led and didn't relinquish it. With six minutes left in the first half the Trojans led the Comets by 11 points. By the end of the first half the Comets had battled back and went into the locker room trailing the Trojans by only 3 points with a score of 33-36.
The Comets came out strong in the second half and took the lead with 17:52 left to play. The Trojans would come back and take the lead with 15:28 left in the game. The lead would change hands several times in the remainder of the half in a tough defensive game, but the Trojans would gain control in the final minutes of the game and hang on to defeat the Comets by a score of 75-86.
Sylvania Watkins was the only Comet to score a double double with 14 points and 11 rebound. Two other Comets scored in double figures. Stanley Brownlee had 25 points and 5 rebounds, and Emanuel Wimbush had 18 points and 6 rebounds. Derek Boykin had 6 assists on the night.
