Comets Get Back on Track at Home

Memphis, TN – January 9, 2008 - After two straight conference losses, the Crichton Comets Men's Basketball team picked up thier third conference win of the season. The Mid-Continent University Cougers came into Streets looking to pick up a conference road win. In addition the Comets went into this tough game without leading scorer Sylvania Watkins and starting point gaurd Derrick Boykin.

The first half was all Comets with the Comets leading by as much as 22 points with 4:21 left in the half.. The Comets went into the locker room with a 45-25 lead, shooting 50% from the field and 44% beyond the arc. The second half was much like the first with the Comets controlling the lead. At the buzzer the final score was 102-84.

The Comets had six players scoring in double figures. Emanual Wimbush had 22 points and pulled 6 rebounds, Michael Sapp scored 15 points with 4 rebounds, Stanley Brownlee scored 14 points and pulled 9 rebounds, Demario Chaffin scored 12 points and had 5 rebounds, Rico Seay scored 11 points, and Zarko Brankovic scored 10 points and pulled 6 rebounds. Mario Stafford led the Cougers in scoring with 21 points. The Comets improve to 8-6 overall and 3-2 in the TranSouth Conference.

Final Score: Crichton 102 - Mid-Continent 84

The Comets will travel to Lebanon, TN to take on Cumberland University on January 12, 2008. Tip-off is set for 2pm.
