Comets Battle Back to Defeat the Scots of Lyon College

Memphis, TN – January 19, 2008- Crichton College's Men's basketball team added another conference win today when they defeated the Scots of Lyon College at home. The Scots jumped out to an early lead and managed to hold on to it throughout most of the first half. The Comets were able to come back and tie the score three times in the first half but were never able to take command. At the half the Lyon led by a score of 36-41.

In the second half the Scots came out and continued to dominate, capitalizing on turnovers and missed shots by the Comets. Again the Comets battled back and tied the score up on three different occasions, but they weren't able to maintain it. With 36 seconds left in the game, the Comets tied the game up with a 3 point field goal by Stanley Brownlee. Lyon quickly called a timeout. When play resumed, the Comets forced the Lyons to turn the ball over, and Derek Boykin was able to score the winning goal with 2 seconds left in the game. At the buzzer, the Comets had defeated the Scots by a score of 83-81.

Stanley Brownlee scored a double double with 24 points and 10 rebounds, and three other Comets scored in double figures. Jonathan Bohanna and Michael Sapp both scored 12 points and Emanuel Wimbush scored 10. Derek Boykin had 8 assist in the game.

Final Score: Crichton 83 - Lyon 81

Next up the Comets take on TranSouth opponent Bethel College. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, January 23rd at 7:00 p.m. at home.
