  Comets defeat the Bulldogs in Conference Play

Memphis, TN – February 13, 2008 -The Crichton College Comets took on the Cumberland University Bulldogs in conference play tonight. The Bulldogs may have scored the first couple of points of the first half, but from then on it was all Comets. The Bulldogs tried on several occasions to come back and did in fact put a dent in the Comet lead, but at the end of the first half the Comets would go to the locker room with the lead. At the half the score was 35-28.

In the second half the Bulldogs came out and tied the score up with 17:48 left in the game. The Comets got hot and with 8:32 seconds left in the game they controlled the game with a 15 point lead, but it wouldn't last. The Bulldogs continued to defend the Comets and score off of forced turnovers. The Comets managed to hold onto the lead and at the final buzzer had defeated the Bulldogs by a score of 71-69.

Three Comets scored in double figures with Sylvania Watkins leading the way. Watkins scored 18 points and had 9 rebounds on the night. Emanuel Wimbush followed with 15 points and Michael Sapp had 13. Rico Seay and Zarko Brankovic both had 5 assist each for the night.

Final Score: Crichton 71 - Cumberland 69

Next up the Comets travel to Batesville, AR to take on Lyon College, Saturday, February 16. Tip-off is 4:00pm.
