Memphis TN – October 31, 2007 - Crichton
College's Men's basketball team lost Wednesday night in their season opener to the visitors from
Philander Smith College. The score went back and forth for most of the first half, and was tied up four different times. The Comets regained the lead with 4:43 left in the first half, and had a 5 point lead at the end of the first half.
In the second half the Comets came out and maintained control of the lead until the 2:34 mark. Philander Smith went up by 1 with a 3 pt FG by Stephen Murdock on an assist from Kevin Moore. Crichton would respond
however, on a FG by Stanley Brownlee to tie the game up. Philander Smith went up by two on free throws made by Darren Jamison. Crichton tied the game up, 86-86, with 17 seconds remaining when Sylvania Watkins sunk two free throws. The Comets fouled twice in the remaining seconds of the game to allow Philander Smith to take the lead and win the game with a final score of 86-89.

double figures for the Comets with
Stanley Brownlee leading the way with 20 points and 8
rebounds. Emanuel Wimbush had 14 points with 6 rebounds. Michael Sapp, Jonathan Bohanna and Dontaye Hinton rounded out the double figure scoring for the
Comets. Derrick Boykin dished eight assist in the game. Philander Smith's Stephen Murdock led all scorers with 27.
