  Comets Defeat Freed on Senior Day

Memphis, TN – March 1, 2008- The Crichton College Men's basketball team took on the Lions of Freed-Hardeman University in their last conference game of the season today. The Lions came into the game with a 11-8 conference record and Crichton was 10-9. Freed jumped out to an early lead and led most of the first half. The Comets were able to take the lead only twice in the half but at the end of 20 minutes of play, the Comets went into the locker room 9 points with the score 27-36.

In the second half started with the Lions controling the game for most of the first 10 minutes. The Comets were able to tie the game up once at the 12:57 mark then fall behind again, and then tie it up again with 11:27 left to play. From that point on the Comets took the lead being up by as much as 15 points. At the final buzzer the Comets had managed to pull off the win with a score of 79-76.

Three Comets registered double figures scoring, led by Michael Sapp with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Rico Seay scored 16 points had 4 rebounds and Sylvania Watkins scored 11 points and pulled down 5 rebounds. Senior, Stanley Brownlee, scored 8 points making him the first Comet to score 1000 points in a two year period of time.

Final Score: Crichton 79 - Freed-Hardeman 76
