Memphis, TN – November 17, 2007- Crichton
College's #3 ranked Men's basketball team picked up their first Conference win of the season today at home against Blue Mountain College. The Comets jumped out to an early lead and the Blue Mountain Toppers were never able to catch up. At the end of the first half, the Comets lead the Toppers by a score of 71-41.
The Comets came out in the second half and extended the first half lead, pushing their advantage from 30 to 64. Crichton held the Toppers to 40% shooting in the second half while the Comets shot 69% shooting. Blue Mountain who shot 50% in the first half was held to just 36 points in the second and were outscored by 34 points. As the final buzzer sounded the Comets secured a 64 point victory, their first win and first TranSouth conference victory of the season.
Zarko Brankovic led seven Comets in double figures with 24 points. Stanley Brownlee scored in double figures for the fourth straight game with 17 points while Derek Boykin scored 20 points, Michael Sapp scored 19, Dontaye Hinton scored 18, and Emanuel Wimbush scored 11. Sylvania Watkins scored in double figures for the 1st time this season with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
