Memphis TN – January 28, 2006 - Crichton
College Comets came out on the winning end of a
thrilling conference game Tuesday. It was a low scoring
defensive battle from the start with neither team being
able to run build a large lead. The Comets made a small
run to close the half and go up five with the score at
30-25.
The
second half remained the same as neither team was able
to score over 26 points. Crichton was able to build a
better than 10 point lead and keep it for most of the
second half. However Freed Hardeman would storm back
late on the strength of two Nathan Aaron three point
baskets. With four seconds remaining Crichton found
themselves up two and needing one more defensive stop to
seal the deal. Freed Hardeman came out of the time out
and got a good look to tie and had the chance for a tip
in. The tip in chance turned into a offensive goal tend
and the Comets escaped with a quality road win in
conference and a spot alone atop the TranSouth.
Jonathan Loe was the only Comet in double figures with
20 matching his league leading average. Loe also pulled
down 7 boards all coming on the defensive end.
Kristopher Smith and Nathan Aaron both scored 12 for the
Lions. The 53 points scored for Crichton was the lowest
point total for the season while the 51 points allowed
by Crichton was also a season low. Crichton held the
Lions to 33% shooting from the floor and only 29% from
behind the arc.
