Nashville TN – December 30, 2005 - After
almost a two week layoff for the holidays, the Comets
got back on track today with a win over Belhaven College
in the Trevecca classic. Crichton got of to an early
double digit lead in the first half and never looked
back. The Comets went into the half with a 13 point lead
and all the momentum.
The
second half was much the same as Crichton came out,
executing with intensity, and pushed the lead to over
20. Belhaven made several small runs but never got the
lead to single digits. Despite committing 16 turnovers
in the second half, including a stretch of six
consecutive possessions, the Comets' lead was never in
serious jeopardy. Crichton improved their record to 8-4
and are enjoying a four game winning streak with each
win coming on the road.
Derek
Boykin led all scorers with 19, also adding 6 assist 5
rebounds and 2 steals. DeShawn Danzey recorded
another double double with 11points and 14 rebounds.
Jonathan Loe (15) and Brian Gibbs (11) rounded out the
double figure scoring for the Comets. James Bryant led
the way for Belhaven with a double double of his own,
scoring 17 and pulling down 11 rebounds. The 70 points
scored by the Comets represents the lowest point total
of the season. Fortunately the 52 points allowed by
Crichton is also the lowest point total allowed by
Crichton this season.

the Comets stay in Nashville for a second day at the Trevecca
