Memphis, TN – January 3, 2007- Crichton
College's #25 ranked Men's basketball team started off the new year with a bang Wednesday night as they picked up their first conference win of the season. Crichton jumped out to a big first half lead on the visitors from Lyon College scoring 44 points on 73% shooting. The Comets went into the half with a 28 point lead and looked to be on their way to an easy win.
Lyon would not go away however and battled to cut the lead in the second half. The Scots cut the lead to under 20 on several occasions but could not get any closer as Crichton runs preserved the lead. The Comets shot 56% in the second half and used their first half cushion to seal the deal and win their first TranSouth Conference game of the season.
Three players scored in double figures for the Comets with Sylvania Watkins, Gino Smith, and Jonathan Bohana scoring 13, 12, and 11 respectively. The Scots were led in scoring by Levi Taylor with 14. Watkins also pulled down 13 boards in the win.
Final Score: Crichton 81 - Lyon 59
Player of the Game: Sylvania Watkins
