Memphis, TN
– December 14, 2006 - Crichton
College's #25 ranked Men's basketball team continued
their winning streak Thursday with a win at home against
William Carey College. The game featured two nationally
ranked teams with Crichton sitting at 25 and William
Carey receiving votes in the latest poll. The Crusaders
jumped out to an early lead only to see it slip away on
a basket by Zarko Brankovic. Brankovic's three with
17:09 remaining in the half gave the Comets their first
lead, a lead that they would not let go. Crichton pushed
their lead to as many as 12 and went into the locker
room up 10.
The second half saw the
Comets pick up where they left off and build on their
double digit lead. William Carey cut the lead to 9 on
one occasion but the Comets lead by at least 10 points
for 19 of the 20 second half minutes. With just under 1
minute remaining Crichton enjoyed their largest lead of
21 as excellent free throw shooting down the stretch put
the game out of reach. As a team the Comets shot 100%
from the free throw line including 10 for 10 in the
second half. As the final buzzer sounded, Crichton
picked up their seventh win in a row and avenged a
earlier loss at William Carey.
