Comets Pull Out a 14 Point Victory on Road

Pulaski, TN – February 8, 2007 - Crichton College Men's basketball team continued to play well by picking up thier third conference victory in a row Thursday night in Pulaski against the Red Hawks of Martin Methodist. The Comets beat MMC earlier in the season at home, and took the season series tonight with a 94-80 victory. The Comets once again was lead by senior Deshawn Danzey, who found a rythm early and continued to play well the entire night. Crichton shot well the first half, finishing 53% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc for a 51-39 lead at the half.

 

The second half saw the Comets pick up where they left off and build on their double digit lead. Martin would battle back and even pull within 8 at one point, but the Comets would not allow them to get any closer. Wilkes would dribble out the clock in the closing seconds to give Crichton the 94-80 victory in a tough road test. Crichton shot 58% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc for the game, and also out rebounded MMC 50-26.

 

The Comets were lead once again by the consistant play of Deshawn Danzey with a game high 27 points and 9 rebounds.Stanley Brownlee had a very solid game with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Sylvania Watkins and Jonathan Bohanna both scored 13 points and Melvin Wilkes had a game high 10 rebounds.

 

Final Score: Crichton 94 - Martin Methodist  80

Next up the Comets will host #6 ranked Lambuth University. The game is scheduled for 2pm on Saturday February 10, 2007.
