  Comets Earn Third Conference Win

Memphis, TN – January 10, 2007- Crichton College's #22 ranked Men's basketball team picked up another Conference win Wednesday at home agianst Martin Methodist College. Crichton scored the first four points of the game only to see Martin score eight unaswered to take an early four point lead. The Redhawk lead would be short lived however, as a Michael Sapp basket with 12:39 remaing gave the Comets the lead for good. Crichton finished out the half with an 11 point lead on 43% shooting while holding Martin to only 30% from the floor.

In the second half the Comets built on their first half lead and enjoyed a 20 point just six minutes into the period. Crichton then put together a 12-3 run to take their largest lead of 29 following two Martin Nolan free throws. Just when the game looked to get out of hand, Martin fought back and cut the lead to as low as 18 on several occassions. The Comets did not let the Redhawks get any closer and Crichton finished the game with their third straight win of 20 points or more over TranSouth Conference opponents.

Four Comets registered double figures led by Deshawn Danzey's 19 points and 5 rebounds. Derek Boykin scored 13 points and dished out 9 assist while Stanley Brownlee added 11 points and 7 rebounds. Sylvania Watkins recorded a season high 17 rebounds and picked up two blocks. Chauncey Shelton led the way for the Redhawks with 23 points.

Final Score: Crichton 86 - Martin Methodist 66
