  Comets Get Fourth Consecutive Conference Win

Memphis, TN – January 13, 2007- Crichton College's #22 ranked Men's basketball team picked up another Conference win Saturday at home agianst Freed-Hardeman University. The Lions came into the game with a 3-0 conference record including three straight. Freed jumped out to an early lead and enjoyed an 8-1 lead with 17:11 remaining. After a time out the Comets scored 11 unanswered to take their first lead of the game. Freed regained the lead on one of Logan Greer's 3 first half baskets from behind the arc. Crichton regained the lead with a three of their own and would not trail for the remainder of the game. The Comets pushed their lead to as many as 20 and went into the locker room with an 18 point lead on 68% shooting. .

In the second half the Comets built on their first half lead and enjoyed a 24 point advantage with 9:24 remaining. The lions played tough however and kept the game from getting out of control. They cut the lead to 14 with just under four minutes remaining but could not get any closer. Crichton finished the game on a 10-5 run including 7 for 8 at the free throw line. As the game ended the Comets earned their 4th straight conference win and a 19 point home victory.

Six Comets registered double figures scoring, led by Stanley Brownlee and Derek Boykin's 15. Sylvania Watkins scored 11 points and pulled down 8 boards while Demario Chaffin scored 14 points on 5 for 5 shooting in only 13 minutes. Jonathan Bohanna (12) and Gino Smith (10) rounded out the double figure scoring for the Comets while Melvin Wilkes dished out 9 assist in the win.

Final Score: Crichton 98 - Freed-Hardeman 79

Next up the Comets travel to Jackson, TN to face #6 ranked Lambuth University. The game is scheduled for Monday January 15th at 8:00 p.m.
