Memphis, TN
– December 9, 2006 - Crichton
College's Men's basketball team improved their winning
streak to six games Saturday in a home victory over Fisk
University. The Comets dominated the game from
start to finish, beginning with at 13-0 run to start the
game. Fisk did not score until a basket by Marques
Patton ended the four minute drought. The Comets
answered with a 19-3 run to push the lead to 26 and end
any thoughts of a comeback. Crichton ended that half
with another big run outscoring the Bulldogs 29-12 to
end the half. The Comets went into the half with a 43
point lead and the game in total control.
The second half was much the
same as Crichton added to their lead scoring in bunches.
The Comets built a 50 point lead on a Stanley Brownlee
basket with 16:24 remaining. Crichton kept the lead at
at least 50 for 15 of the last 16 minutes and led by as
many as 56 on several occasions. As the game ended
Crichton lead by 55 and picked up their sixth straight
win including their third straight home win. The 55
point win matches the Comets largest margin of victory
in their two year history in the NAIA.
Deshawn Danzey lead all
scorers and 6 Comets in double figures with 23
points and 5 rebounds. Stanley Brownlee and Sylvania
Watkins narrowly missed double doubles with
17 and 9 and 16 and 9 respectively. Zarko Brankovc (10)
Derek Boykin (11) and Michael Sapp (12) rounded out the
double figure scoring for the Comets. Crichton
out-rebounded the Bulldogs by 18 and shot a red hot 78%
from the field including 66% from behind the arc.
