Comets Break the Century Mark in Their 8th Straight Win

Springdale, AR – December 16, 2006 - Crichton College's #25 ranked Men's basketball team went on the road Saturday and picked up their 8th straight win at Ecclesia College. The Comets found themselves down early and playing catch up for the first eight minutes of the game. Ecclesia led by as many as 6 before a Crichton run with 12:00 minutes remaining put the Comets ahead for good. Crichton scored 48 points in the last 12 minutes and took a 62-47 lead into the half.

 

The second half saw the Royals chip away at the Comet lead and cut the deficit to as little as six points with 8:41 remaining. Crichton regrouped and regained a double digit lead on a Stanley Brownlee basket with 6 minutes remaining. The Comets kept their lead and forced the Royals to foul as Crichton began to run the clock. The Comets made 9 of 10 free throws down the stretch to seal the deal and pick up a road win before the Christmas holidays.

 

Stanley Brownlee lead five Comets in double figures with 23 points to go along with 4 rebounds. Two Comets recorded double doubles for Crichton including DeShawn Danzey with 17 points and 11 rebounds and Melvin Wilkes completing the rare points assist double double with 12 points and 13 assist. Jonathan Bohanna (10) and Michael Sapp (11) rounded out the double figures scoring for Crichton. Donnie Williams led the Royals with 25.

 

Final Score: Crichton 104 - Ecclesia College 92

Next up the Comets travel to Russellville Arkansas to face Arkansas Tech . The game is scheduled for Saturday December 29th with the time to be announced.
