July 12, 2007 – Coach Brandon Rowan signed Meridian Community College transfer, David Woods, Jr., to play for the Comets. Woods was a member of the '06 Championship Team and the '06 and '07 Conference Championship teams while at Meridian Community College along with mantaining a grade point average high enough to make the Dean's List.

Woods played his high school career at West Lauderdale High School where he lettered all four years in baseball and was listed in Who's Who Among American Student Athletics.

His career statistics include a batting average of .316, 21 homeruns, 41 stolen bases and 87 RBI's.

David will be a valuable asset to the Comet infield in the 2008 season.
