Searcy, AR , February 26, 2008  – The Crichton College Baseball team took on Harding University today on the road in Searcy, AR. In a the first game of a double header, the score at the end of the first inning was tied up 1-1. Harding would score again in the bottom of the fourth inning, but the Comets would come back in the top of the fifth and score 3 runs with Dustin Young scoring on a single by D.J. Merriwether, Turner Barnes scored on an error by Hardings third baseman and D.J. Merriwether scored when Burleson was walked with the bases loaded making the score 4-2 Comets. The Comets would score another run in the top of the seventh, but they were not able to hold off the Bisons. The Bisons scored 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and the score was tied 5-5 sending the game into extra innings. In the top of the eighth inning, the Comets scored 6 runs making the score 11-5. The Bisons were not able to answer and the game would end with the Comets getting the win 11-5.

In the second game, the Comets would jump out to an early 3-1 lead with two innings played, but the Bisons were able to get their bats working and scored 4 runs in the top of the third inning giving them the lead 3-5. The Bisons would score 2 more runs in the bottom of the fifth and 1 in the bottom of the sixth. The Comets scored 1 run in the top of the sixth and 1 in the top of the seventh, but it was not enough to take the lead from the Bisons. The Bisons defeated the Comets in the second game 5-8.

Next up the Comets take on Lyon College in their first conference game of the season. The Comets will play a three game series beginning Friday, February 29 at 6:00pm and then again on Saturday, March1 beginning at 1:00pm. Friday's game is 1-9 inning game and they will play 2-7 inning games on Saturday.
