Nashville, TN, March 21, 2008 – The Crichton College Baseball
team took to the road today to take on the Trojans of Trevecca-Nazarene University in a 3 game series in Nashville, TN. In the first game, the Comets were not able to get their bats working until the top of the sixth inning. The Trojans were up 0-9 in the top of the sixth when the Comets suddenly came alive and scored 3 runs when Nick Gardner hit a 3 run homer. The Trojans came back and scored 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth making the score 3-12 in favor of the Trojans. The Comets weren't through yet. In the top of the seventh inning they would score 7 runs. With the bases loaded, Dustin Young would single bringing in 2 runs. D.J. Merriwether hit a 3 run homer and then Terry Reed would hit a 2 run homer making the score 10-12 at the end of 7 innings of play. In the bottom of the eighth inning Trevecca would score 2 more runs making the score 10-14. In the top of the ninth, the Comets tried to rally with a homer by Terry Reed, but that was all they would get, and the game would end with the Trojans defeating the Comets by a score of 11-14.
