Memphis, TN, April 19-20, 2008  – The Crichton College Baseball team took on the Redhawks of Martin Methodist University at home this weekend in a three game series. In the first game, Martin Methodist got on the board in the first inning with 3 runs coming off of Comet errors. The score remained 0-3 until the fourth inning when the Redbirds would score 7 runs capitalizing off of more Comet errors. The Comets were finally able to score in the bottom of the fourth inning when John David Beane hit a 3 run homer. At the end of four innings of play, the score was 3-10 in favor of the Redhawks. Neither team would score again and the Redhawks would go on to defeat the Comets by a score of 3-10.

In the second game, the Redhawks again got on the board first scoring 3 runs in the top of the first inning and 4 runs in the top of the second inning. The Comets came back and scored in the bottom of the second off of a single by Dustin Young bringing Kody Bumpous across the plate, then Terry Reed singled to center allowing Preston Burleson to score. When Turner Barnes singled up the middle, Dustin Young was able to come home. At the end of two innings of play the score was 3-7 in favor of the Redhawks. The Comets were able to score 2 more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning when D.J. Merriwether doubled to right-center bringing Terry Reed in, and then Mays was able to score later in the inning. The Redhawks would come back and score 3 more runs in the seventh inning, and the game would end with the Redhawks defeating the Comets by a score of 5-10.

In the third game, the score was 0-0 until the top of the fourth inning when the Redhawks got on the board scoring 1 run. The Redhawks would score 1 run in the top of the fifth, 1 run in the top of the sixth, and then score 2 runs in the top of the ninth. The Comets scored their only run in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Redhawks would go on to win the third game 1-5.
