Memphis, TN, February 29-March 1, 2008  – The Crichton College Baseball team took on the Scots of Lyon College in their conference season opener this weekend at Gagliano Field. In the first game the Scots got on the board early with 3 runs in the 1st inning and 3 in the 2nd to take a 0-6 lead. In the bottom of the third inning, the Comets got on the board with 3 runs, two more in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 5-6 in favor of the Scots. The Scots would score two more runs in the top of the sixth inning to go up 5-8, but the Comets came back in the bottom of the seventh to score 2 runs and 1 run in the bottom of the eightth inning to tie the score up 8-8. Neither team would score in the ninth, and the game would go into extra innings. The score remained tied through the twelveth inning and in the bottom of the twelveth, the game would be delayed because of heavy fog for a period of 25 minutes. When play resumed, the Scots would quickly score 3 runs in the top of the thirteenth inning. The Comets were able to score 2 runs in the bottom of the thirteenth before the game would be delayed and finally be postponed until Saturday. On Saturday, play resumed with the Comets up to bat with the tying run on third and one out. Lenderman went in to pinch run for Gardner and Greer singled to center allowing Lendermon to score. Greer advanced to second on a bobble by the Scots center fielder. Chance grounded out to short advancing Greer to third base and then Greer would score on a wild pitch. The Comets would win in extra innings 12-11.

In the second game, the Scots would dominate scoring 2 runs in the second, 1 in the third, 4 in the fourth, and 2 in the fifth inning. The Comets were never able to get their bats working and the game would end with the Scots defeating the Comets 0-9.
