March 20 , 2008 – The Lady Comets softball team took on the Lady Cougars of Mid-Continent University today in a double header at Tobey Field. In the first game, the Lady Comets got on the board in the bottom of the third inning with Erica Valentine scoring off Grissom's single to right field. Then Ashley Smith hit a triple to deep right-center, bringing in Grissom and Davis. Smith went on to score on a wild pitch. The inning ended with the Lady Comets up 4-0. In the top of the fifth inning, Mid-Continent would come back and score 2 runs making the score 4-2, but the Lady Comets would hold the Lady Cougars to just the 2 runs and go on to win the game with a score of 4-2.

In the second game, the Lady Comets jumped out in front early scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Brittany Enoch got it started with a single up the middle. Grissom got on base off a bobbled ball advancing Enoch to third, and when Brittany Davis singled to the pitchers mound, Enoch would score. Ashley Smith doubled into deep center bringing Grissom and Davis both home, and Smith would score off a single hit to left by Erica Valentine. The Lady Comets shutdown the Lady Cougars in the top of the second inning, and in the bottom of the second, the Lady Comets would score 5 runs making the score 9-0 in with 2 innings of softball played. The Lady Comets held the Lady Cougars to no runs and would go on to win the game 9-0.
