April 6 , 2008 – The Lady Comets softball team took to the road today to take on the Lady Wildcats of Bethel College in McKenzie, TN. In the first game, Ashley Smith got the Lady Comets on the board with a homerun hit to left field. The Lady Wildcats answered back in the bottom of the third inning scoring 2 runs and making the score 1-2. The score would remain 1-2 until the top of the sixth inning when Sierra Coltharp doubled to deep center bringing in Brittany Davis and Ashley Smith. At the end of six the score was 3-2 Lady Comets. The Lady Comets would go on to score again in the top of the seventh when Amy Grissom hit a 3 run homer. The game would end with the Lady Comets defeating the Lady Wildcats by a score of 6-2.

In the second game, the Lady Comets really got their bats going scoring in the first inning when Brittany Davis ground out bringing Brittany Enochs in. In the second inning, they would score another 2 runs. The first one coming off a wild pitch scoring Sierra Coltharp and the other run coming off a single up the middle hit by Brittany Enochs allowing Erica Valentine to score. In the third inning Ashley Smith was able to score when the shortstop bobbled a ball hit by Coltharp. The Lady Wildcats were able to get one run in the bottom of the third, but the Lady Comets came back to score a run when Erica Brich hit a single to left field bringing Ashley Coffman across the plate. In the top of the fifth inning the Lady Comets would score again off Ashley Coffman's single to left field bringing Brittany Davis across the plate. At the end of five innings of play the Lady Comets led 6-1. In the top of the seventh inning, Amy Grissom, Brittany Davis, Ashley Smith, and Sierra Colthrap would all score runs, and the game would end with the Lady Comets taking the win with a score of 10-1.

Next up, the Lady Comets travel to Pulaski, TN, to take on the Lady Redhawks of Martin Methodist University on Tuesday, April 8, in a double header. First games starts at 3:30pm.
