Jessica Yelvington signs to play Soccer for the Comets

December 18 , 2007 – Jeremy Iwaszkowiec, Head Coach for Crichton College Women’s Soccer Program, announced the signing of Jessica Yelvington today. Yelvington is from Cordova, TN and is the daughter of David and Cathy Yelvington.

Yelvington, a transfer from Northwest Mississippi Community College, was selected All Region XXIII her freshman year and finished 9th in scoring in NJCAA Division I. She set two school records in 2004- 32 goals for the season and 6 goals scored in a single game. Although her season was cut short her sophomore year due to Hurricane Katrina, Jessica was still able to set a school record of 42 goals scored in a 2 year career.

Jessica played all 4 years as a starter at Cordova High School and was on the District, Regional and State Sectional Championship team. She received the Commercial Appeal Best of the Preps Award three years in a row and was on the TSSAA All State Team her junior and senior year.

Yelvington has played club soccer since 1997. First with the Collierville Lobos and then for the Germantown Soccer Club Fury. While with the Fury, Jessica helped her club win the Tennessee State Cup Championship 4 times and been on the State Finalist team once.

Coach Iwaszkowiec is excited to have Jessica join the Comets and believes she will be a tremendous asset to the women's team.
