Crichton Signs First International Player, Second Goalkeeper

April 14, 2005Head Coach Jeff Lean announced today the signing of the first international player for the Lady Comets soccer team, Sarah Harrison of Newmarket, ON Canada. Harrison will graduate from Huron Heights Secondary School with a 3.7 GPA this spring. She has been accepted into the Honors Program at Crichton and will begin work on a degree in Psychology this fall.

Harrison, Crichton's second signed goalkeeper in a month for the Comets, brings a pretty impressive resume. "Sarah is an excellent goalkeeper who has played at a high level, both at home and overseas," said Coach Jeff Lean. "She brings a lot of experience to the position and does all the little things right. She is a very vocal goalkeeper who has the ability to play with her feet as well as make the big save."

Harrison, who has been a goalkeeper since the age of six, now plays for Richmond Hill Raiders of the Ontario Youth Soccer League Premier League. In 2004, she captained the Bryst International Team which toured Britain, playing a variety of women's professional teams including Manchester United FC, Manchester City FC, Wiggan FC and Tranmere FC.

"We now have two excellent goalkeepers on our squad. I am thrilled to have this kind of talent in, what I consider, the most important position on the field. I expect that both goalkeepers will compete and make an immediate impact," said Coach Lean
