April 27, 2005 – Crichton College is pleased to announce it has reached an agreement to play their home basketball games at the Mid-South Coliseum. Crichton will play 14 home games at the coliseum. Crichton recently joined the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and will compete as a member of the TranSouth Conference in 2005 – 2006. The college also announced it is changing its nickname to the Comets and their new colors are silver and black. Director of Athletics and Head Coach of Men’s Basketball, Jeff Walker stated, “The College has made a commitment to athletics and we fully intend to compete for the TranSouth Conference and the N.A.I.A. National Championship in our first season. We are excited about playing in the coliseum. There has been a lot of great basketball played there. We are looking forward to adding a new chapter to its rich history and putting a product on the floor people will enjoy coming to see.”
