Division of Humanities

Bachelor of Arts in Humanities

Degree Requirements = 120 credit hours

The Humanities Major at Crichton College offers a program of study grounded in traditional liberal arts with various options from which students may choose depending upon their academic or vocational aims. All humanities majors take a required major core of 30 credit hours in five humanities disciplines. Beyond this, students must choose either an “emphasis track” or a “concentration track” depending upon their academic or vocational aims. The emphasis track allows the student to explore one area of humanities more deeply with a view toward possible graduate study in that area. The concentration track affords concentrated exposure to a field of study outside the humanities with a view toward possible specific vocational preparation. Currently, the Humanities Major offers two distinct emphases and two distinct concentrations from which students may choose. (For further details, see the respective tracks outlined below.) Humanities Majors are not required to complete a minor field of study.
