Message From the President

Crichton College President Larry L. Lloyd

Welcome to Crichton College! You have made an excellent choice and we know that you will have a wonderful experience with the Crichton family.

Crichton is on the cutting edge of Christian education in a distinctively urban context. The great city of Memphis is, in a real sense, our extended “campus.” You not only will find Crichton to be a rewarding academic environment, but you will also be able to apply what you learn in one of America’s great southern urban centers.

Crichton is unique! We offer exciting ethnic and cultural diversity, the kind of diversity that will prepare you for whatever career God is calling you to pursue. We also have students from many different backgrounds. We have programs for pastors in the city that we operate in partnership with area churches and nonprofit organizations. We offer teacher certification for students wishing to make education their calling. We have programs for adult learners called the Accelerated Evening Program (AEP) that is designed for those seeking undergraduate education. All of these things lend themselves to a college environment that helps our students integrate their academic pursuits in a very diverse setting.

And, of course, Crichton College is committed to education from a distinctively Christian context and worldview. Our professors and staff integrate the best of scholarship with their deep commitment to the Christian faith. We are as committed to your spiritual growth as we are to your academic and professional progress. We have many opportunities for you to “practice” your faith in urban ministry as well. In fact, I believe you will find this one of the most unique things about our college. Our partnerships with urban and suburban churches, urban nonprofit agencies and the city and county school systems ideally position the college and its students to make a huge difference in the city and in our lives.

I can promise you that Crichton will challenge you to grow in knowledge and faith in such a way that will equip you for making a difference in the world in years to come. We are excited that you will be joining us in this journey of faith, and I look forward to meeting you when you arrive on campus.
